Cheadle - market town and gateway to Alton Towers

A market town which continues the tradition of a street market and Victorian market hall, the star attraction of the town is St Giles’ Church it is said to be the finest of all the churches built by the Victorian architect and designer A.W.N. Pugin, and is known as Pugin’s Gem

Cheadle has a weekly outdoor market each Tuesday, Friday and Saturday in the restored Victorian Market Hall, adjoining market square and Greyhound Place

The town is also close to Alton Towers and the Alton Valley and Dimmingsdale a popular walking and cycling (see our activities page)

Close by in Blythe Bridge is the Foxfield Heritage Railway which offers 5 mile round trip through rural Staffordshire on our heritage trains pulled by historic steam engines as well as a Miniature Railway

Kingsley Bird & Falconry Centre has one of the largest collections of birds of prey in the country.

In the nearby Churnet Valley sits Hawksmoor, a National Trust managed ancient woodland, with walks & wildlife

Froghall Wharf is within the beautiful Churnet Valley at the end of the Caldon Canal. It has picnic tables, parking and toilet facilities
